How Do I Unzip My Files?
Most of our downloads are offered a .zip file that first needs to be unzipped with a utility before you can access the files. This will take the zip and extract it into a folder that isn’t compressed.
Sometimes your computer can get confused and show an error with the .zip file or just refuse to unzip it.
We test all our downloads regularly, so it’s unlikely there are problems with the files themselves.
If you’re having trouble unzipping a download from Ground Control it might be from:
-
An unfinished or incomplete download.
-
Your unzip utility is not compatible with the .zip file
Here are our suggestions to fix the problem:
1) Confirm that the downloaded files are complete.
It’s possible that the download just didn’t finish. Make sure that the file you’ve downloaded ends in “.zip” and not “part” or “download” or “temp.” If the file doesn’t look like a .zip, that’s probably the problem. Retry the download again.
2) Try a different unzip utility
If you have trouble unzipping, try using a utility like 7-Zip (Windows), or The Unarchiver (Mac). These utilities are more compatible with a wide variety of compressed formats and can often do a better job of unzipping a larger file like we often have in our products.
